WKPCo-op IS HOSTING THE MOBILE JUICE PRESS AGAIN THIS YEAR!
WHAT’S THE SERVICE?
Everyone is welcome to bring their own apples &/or pears (fresh-picked non-bruised fruit) for pressing & packaging in shelf stable (retail ready “bag-in-box”) 5L packages. NO MINIMUMS THIS YEAR! Bring a basket or load the truck! * See Small batch info below. Pressing is first come first serve, so plan to spend some time enjoying the days festivities while your juice is sorted for pressing. Please sort through your fruit carefully! Poor fruit will effect both the taste and the shelf life of the product. Windfall, bruised and molding fruit will not be accepted!
WHAT’S THE COST?
You pay a small per liter fee for processing of $1.50 /L. Boxes are shelf stable for up to 1 year, and once opened will stay fresh at room temperature for 2 months! (just like a box of wine). Keep the bears at bay, free up your freezer space & enjoy your own fruit juice all year long.
*Small batches of apples will be compiled together to make 400lb runs. You can of course meet with you co-run community members and ensure your all happy with the fruit selection, or get some friends together and make your own 400lb run. All apples in will be weighed in and you can pay your pressing fee with cash or checks made out to “The West Kootenay Permaculture Co-op”
An apple and Juice loading zone will be provided behind the hall, but is intended for loading only, so you will have to move your car while the pressing is taking place. You must pay for your juice before loading.
PULP: GOT PIGS?
Bring a shovel and some bins, Apple pulp will be available all day long, again first come first serve.

SAVE THE DATE & PLAN FOR PICKING! TOO BUSY TO PICK YOUR OWN TREES?
You can register your trees for gleaning. Our valley is bursting with over-productive gardens, fruit laden trees and hungry bears… and too much of a good thing, can sometimes be a problem! Fortunately, there are 3 food groups in our area teaming up to create solutions by harvesting and sharing this good food in creative ways.
HERE ARE 3 SIMPLE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP PRESS FEST
REGISTER your own trees to be picked (you’ll get a share of the bounty)
DONATE your fresh harvested garden excess (fruit & veggies both)
VOLUNTEER to pick fruit, it’s a fun way to give back (and you keep a share)
