You can find Earth Temple Gardens tucked away at the pristine north end of Kootenay Lake, nestled in the small community of Argenta. Owned and operated by farmer Michael Silver, Earth Temple Gardens is a 1.4 acre, certified organic farm producing an abundance of vegetables each year.
This farm operates with a mission to produce high quality, nutrient-dense vegetables in the most sustainable way possible, to nourish our local communities while enriching and supporting the biodiversity of the land.
When asked why farming is important to him, Michael told us, “I have always thrived in our natural environment, and found that from a young age I really enjoyed working in gardens whether it was ornamental or veggie gardens. Farming is a way of creativity for me, and allows me to find ways to support our community in balance with ecology, to provide nutrient dense food.”
Michael also shares, “Support your local farmers. A small percentage of the food we eat is local – lets grow together!”
Fresh, nutritious produce from Earth Temple Gardens can be found at various locations in Kaslo, including the Saturday farmers’ market; Cornucopia; Front Street Market; and Blue Belle Bistro. Up the lake, be sure to stop into the Meadow Creek store to final seasonal offerings. In Nelson, Earth Temple Gardens’ vegetables can be found at the Kootenay Co-op; Ellisons Market; Save-On Foods; All Seasons Café; Red Light Ramen Bar; Outer Clove; Pitchfork Eatery; and Appy Café.
